The History of AAMP
AAMP of AmericaTM - a portfolio company of Audax Group - is a global supplier of a broad spectrum of mobile audio/video products, mobile device accessories, installation and fabrication supplies, and OEM integration solutions. Originally founded in Clearwater, Florida in 1987 as a one-stop distributor of car audio installation supplies, AAMP of America grew quickly and launched its own proprietary brand of cable, interconnects and car audio electronics - Stinger® - in 1990. In 1992 and 1993 the company was named one of Inc. Magazine's 500 Private Companies to Watch, and by 2000 had expanded its house brand portfolio to include Peripheral®, Sound Quest® and Best Kits & Harnesses®. In 2006, the company began focusing heavily on technology innovation and penetrating new retail markets, and in 2008 launched an aggressive growth and investment strategy that included the acquisition of Select Distributors Inc. and Pacific Accessory Corporation, merging the latter with Peripheral to create the world's premier OEM integration solutions provider. In 2010 the company made great strides by introducing its iSimple® brand into the consumer electronics retail channel, and re-launched the Phoenix Gold® mobile brand after acquiring it from Rodin.
Today, AAMP of America continues to expand its service, support, marketing and logistics capabilities by growing its worldwide sales force, extending technical support hours, forging strategic relationships with international partners, and the expanding the company's logistics infrastructure to five facilities in the US and one in Asia.
AAMP of America enjoys a unique position in the industry as both a manufacturer and distributor of mobile audio and electronics products. This provides the company with several benefits, including an uncanny insight into industry trends, technological advances and consumer demands. Because of this, AAMP of America is constantly pushing the envelope in terms of product development, sales strategy and new product innovations.
